Professional Studies and Experience

Suzanne has studied travel writing and photography with Judith Fein and Paul Ross and personal transformative writing with Hal Zina Bennett and Maureen Murdock. The professional organizaitons to which she belongs include the International Travel Writers Alliance, Bay Area Travel Writers, and Travelwriters.com.

She brings a wide range of experience to her writing, including extensive travel in Europe, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and the U.S., especially California. She is particularly interested in eco-travel, low impact adventure travel, the life styles of differenct cultures, and pilgramiges to sacred sites. Concern for the earth and belief in human kind's imperative to nurture and protect all life on our planet guides her travel and informs her work. Suzanne seeks and finds meaningful experiences in her travels, and this focus provides a transformative element to her work. Her writings offer readers the opportunity to accompany her in her travels, creating their own personal journeys along the way.

Suzanne Marriott is a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been a writer since childhood, writing in her diaries and for her school newspapers.  She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she received a B.A. in English Literature and a Secondary Teaching Credential. She received a Masters Degree in Education from California State University, Hayward (now CSU East Bay) and a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California where she also completed the classwork for a PhD.
